Which Client Are YOU?!?

In my business there are 2 types of clients.

Client #1

The client set in their ways. Has trouble delegating. Not comfortable bringing someone inside the loop. Noncommunicative.

Often this client feels it's the assistant's job to 'just know'. To figure it out.

This client uses minimal words to delegate tasks. Assumes their assistant knows what they're talking about & wants them to 'run with it'.

I can keep going, but I think I'm painting a picture you can start to imagine...

Client #2

The second type of client keeps their assistant in 'the know'. Keeps them updated about activities, clients, meetings, and things going on within their business.

This client explains to their assistant why they're doing a specific task. How they like it done. Background. Potential. History. Etc. Things crucial for their assistant to know how to talk to associates on a call, how to word an email, when you're available for scheduling, why you're speaking to an individual. Etc.

Here's the kicker...

100% of the time client #1 doesn't work out. They may or may not blame their assistant for not being up to par. But I need to be honest. It's not the assistant's fault.

How is your assistant supposed to do a good job with 30% of the information they need to actually do it well???

Client #2...

Well, that client can go on vacation, have a baby & take off, go to a 3 day conference... And not worry about anything!

Can you guess why?

Yup!

Their assistant is able to take calls, respond to emails, send out invoices, enter data, and do all the necessary day to day work so when you come back to work after a few days (or weeks)... Everything has been looked after & under control. You don't go back to work with endless catch-up!

Long post, but I'm going to keep going.

Very often clients start out as client #1 and it takes time to slowly transition to client #2.

When they get to a place of trust & start to reap the benefits of a great relationship with their assistant, that's when the magic happens.

So it's not too late if you're reading this & thinking you fall under client #1 category. You can make changes to transition to client #2.

I really posted this because I think so many people can benefit from an incredible assistant!

So if you have one, and things aren't as you think they should be, think to yourself... Is it the assistant or is it you.

If it's you, please... Make the changes to fully benefit from a great assistant!!!
